Wellbeing Another area of focus and relevance is the wellbeing of the entire TIS family (i.e. students, parents and staff). The wellbeing intervention process will take the form of psychosocial and emotional counselling. Aim • To prevent or reduce to the barest minimum the spread of COVID-19 to ensure the complete psychological, physical, emotional, social and academic wellbeing of students and staff. • To assure parents of a safe learning environment for their children. Mode of Operation • There will be regular online interactions and briefing with students and the entire staff on how to stay safe. Where necessary, representatives from the Ghana Psy- chological Association (GPA), WHO and Ministry of Health will be consulted for support. • Students and teachers will access therapeutic techniques such as psychoeducation and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) before and during the academic year to empower them to build resilience. These techniques are interventions that provide information to those seeking understanding about their personal challenges. They become well informed, build resilience and are able to adjust well to their environ- ment. • There will be avenues for students, parents and staff, to seek psychosocial and emo- tional support to create an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning. • Students and staff will be empowered through psychoeducation and Cognitive Be- havioral Therapy (CBT) to develop skills relevant to coping with challenges associ- ated with the effects of the pandemic. • Parents will receive online psychological support to assure them of their children’s emotional wellbeing and also to help them as parents cope with the effects of the pandemic. • Teachers will receive psychoeducation to enable them to identify students who are stressed, offer basic support and make referrals for counselling.
