Last Friday, 14 October, we witnessed some great performances in the track and field events.

Yellow was the overall athletic champions due to their impressive participation in events. Green demonstrated their prowess in athletic events and was awarded the Track and Field trophy. This award was established in recognition of the time and effort a dedicated group of athletes has demonstrated since the start of the academic year by training at 4.30am on most mornings.

Outstanding performances on the day included:

• David Quampah (1) and Daniel Ainebyona (2) who both broke David’s existing 1500m record, with David shaving 25 seconds off his record from 2015.
• Andrew Akiwumi who set a new record for the 12 years boys 100m.
• Josid Owusu-Akyaw (1), Torence Mwindaare (2) and Daniel Ogunwole (3) who all bettered the existing 14 years boys 100m record.
• Gabriella Manu (1) and Maame Ama Benyarko (2) who smashed the previous 15 years girls 100m record.
• Natasha Tetteh (1), Erin Owusu (2) and Samantha Azu (3), each of whom bettered the previous record in the 16 years girls 100m.
• Sedo Sezan who set a new record in 16 years boys 100m and equalled the existing Champion of Champions 100m record of 12 seconds set by Allan Ayitey in 2015.
• Nana Osei Mainoo who set a new record in 17 years boys 100m.
• Abena Okai who bettered the previous record for the open girls 800m and the girls’ javelin.
• Natasha Tetteh (1), Gabriella Manu (2) and Maame Benyarko (3) who all ran under 15 seconds to beat the existing girls’ champion of champions 100m record.
• Maame Benyarko and Mife Fajemirokum who broke the girls’ high jump record.
• David Quartey who set a new record in the boys high jump.
• Luke Ige who set new records in discus and shot put.
• Phoebe Dadson who bettered the existing record in the girls’ shot put.
• The green and blue relay teams who smashed previous relay records.
