Participating in the business competition and securing the fourth position among 40 schools has been an enriching experience. It has taught me valuable lessons about determination, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Competing, I was aware of the fierce battles we would face, but I never let it deter my enthusiasm. Instead, it fueled my drive to excel. Our team worked tirelessly, dedicating countless hours to research, brainstorming, and refining our ideas. We faced numerous challenges and setbacks, but each obstacle only pushed us to improve.
One of the most significant takeaways from this experience is the power of teamwork. Our success was not the result of individual brilliance but the collaborative effort of a dedicated team. We leveraged each team member’s strengths, communicated effectively, and supported one another through the highs and lows. It reinforced the idea that synergy can achieve remarkable results.
Furthermore, coming in fourth among 40 schools, while not in the top spot, is a testament to our growth and potential. It has motivated me to continue refining my skills, seeking new knowledge, and striving for excellence in every endeavour. I’ve learned that success is not always about the final rank but the personal and collective growth achieved along the way.
In retrospect, this competition has been a transformative experience that has equipped me with invaluable skills and a resilient mindset for future challenges in the business world. It has shown me that with dedication, teamwork, and a commitment to improvement, even a fourth-place finish can be a significant achievement. Prince Cobinnah, G11.
Attending the business competition with my buddies Moses, Prince, and Kelvin was an eye-opening experience that taught me more than just numbers and strategies. While we may have come in fourth place, we’ve won something much more valuable. The journey leading up to the competition was filled with late-night brainstorming sessions, heated debates, and moments of doubt. We learned to collaborate, compromise, and appreciate each other’s strengths. Moses’ analytical mind, Prince’s creativity, Kelvin’s
charisma, and my organisational skills formed a dynamic team. When the day of the competition arrived, the adrenaline was pumping through our veins. We confidently pitched our business idea, even though we were up against some tough competition. Though not what we had hoped for, the judges’ feedback served as a valuable lesson in humility and resilience. What made this experience truly special was the camaraderie we developed. We faced setbacks together and celebrated small victories as a team. This competition has sharpened my business acumen and taught me the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and the thrill of chasing a dream together. We may have come forth, but the lessons we’ve gained are priceless. I can’t wait to see where our next venture takes us. Jaye Asante-Asare, G11.
As the head of programming for my team, I have seen tremendous growth due to my participation in the National Business Pitch Competition. This experience has been incredibly insightful and has given me valuable lessons that will undoubtedly shape my future endeavours.
Firstly, the road to this competition was filled with rigorous preparations, especially the day before my partners and I pitched our idea in front of a large crowd. On the road, we encountered numerous obstacles, revisions, and challenges along the way. However, the unwavering motivation from our patron, Sir George, helped us, to gain determination and dedication to push us through the presentation stage.
Also, our participation in the competition served as a remarkable opportunity for personal growth. A good pitch presentation required fine-tuning our communication, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. This experience also highlighted the significance of effective teamwork and collaboration. One takeaway from our participation was the exposure to different schools, judges, and mentors, which broadened my insights into the business world. While we may not have clinched first place, our fourth place shows that we have just begun. In the highly competitive business landscape, achieving substantial recognition and validation is a significant accomplishment
Looking back, my involvement in the National Business Pitch competition has pushed me beyond my comfort zone. Kelvin Anson, G11.
As the head of designs and marketing, I am delighted to present my reflections on participating in the National Business Pitch
Competition. It was an exciting experience, and I went through many challenges, but any time I surpassed them, I realised I had gained new skills from those challenges. Let’s take, for example, when we had to pitch our business idea to the judges and a large crowd, and the whole ASC team was very nervous because most of us had never talked in a large group of people we had never seen or spoken to before.
As a result of that experience, I was able to increase significantly my public speaking skills. We also received a powerful motivation from our patron, Sir George, which helped make the group’s morale very high. That motivation helped us a lot and increased our confidence before going to the stage to pitch our business idea. Seeing some of our friends from TIS come to support us also relieved most of the stress we would have had on stage.
Though we did not get first place in the business competition, we have learnt a lot of new skills that will make ASC come back bigger and more significant in the business world. Hopefully, we will come again to the competition way stronger and with more confidence we will pursue the first-place position next year. Moses Armah, G11.
“IT’S NOT ABOUT WINNING, IT’S ABOUT THE JOURNEY”.
Those were the words from Mama Su after I told her we didn’t emerge winners of the competition. My students and I felt we had given so much attention to the competition. We were saddened that we didn’t emerge winners of the National Business Pitch Competition organised by JA DEEP. After hearing those words from Mama Su, I began to reflect, which made me appreciate how far we had come from the beginning through to the end of this whole program. There were times I had to stay awake with my students till about midnight just because we wanted to meet all the requirements of the competition. There were also times when I had to wake them up as early as 5:00 a.m. so we could work to achieve success.
In all of this, I saw what wouldn’t be most visible in the lives of these students in the classroom. The level of dedication and commitment from our students towards this noble course is a mark that has been printed in their hearts for a lifetime. Even though there were misunderstandings and arguments among them on most occasions, they were able to settle their differences and arrive at a specific decision all the time. Teamwork is a virtue that I believe has come to stay with them and will be manifested wherever they find themselves in their individual career paths.
