During the break, Nissi Arday, G10, undertook a service experience by raising Autism Awareness in collaboration with HopeSetters Autism Center. During the festive season, she thought about persons living with Autism who may not even realize it’s that celebratory time of the year. Her goal, therefore, is to create awareness and educate people on Autism in Ghana and organize a fundraiser to support a classroom project at the HopeSetters Autism Center in Community 11, Tema.

As an ardent member of her church St Stephen’s Anglican Church, her pastor approved that she uses the church as a platform to carry out her goal. She made a presentation at Church to the congregation educating them on Autism and the need to support autism centres. Specifically, she appreciated the work and efforts of HopeSetters Autism Centre. At the end of her presentation and fundraiser, she was able to realize an amount of GHC 18,000 within a short time amidst cheques, pledges and cash. She mentioned this as one of her greatest achievements ever.

A huge congratulations to Nissi and the church for the massive support. The coordinator of HopeSetters, Mrs Baaba Enchill, was present in school last Friday, to receive the cheque on behalf of the Centre. She commended Tema International School for developing positive traits in learners and providing opportunities for students to care and show concern for all. She was proud of Nissi Arday and promises her name and Tema International School will remain as great contributors of the classroom project.
